Um das zu begreifen, nehme man einen weltberühmten Geiger, am besten den vielleicht brillantesten und seriösesten der Vereinigten Staaten, und mache mit ihm etwas Nicht-Erhabenes, inszeniere man den Trash. Ein Experiment, geschehen in der Hauptstadt Washington. Nach 43 Minuten “Konzert” waren an dem Gebrauchsmusiker 1070 Leute vorüber gelaufen, die ihn insgesamt um 32,17 Dollar reicher gemacht hatten.

KLIMT and LAKS a short history

Since 1986, when LAKS was established, the way to an innovative watch company was strongly accompanied by art, especially by the inspiration of Gustav Klimt. With this inspiration LAKS created a new extraordinary collection of art watches for its customers. The world`s largest collection of Klimt watches was the outcome – from now on LAKS was recognized as the “Klimt-Watch –Producer”.

In 1997, we decided to show our fascination for this artist by creating a kind of virtual Klimt museum on klimt.com

Klimt – always an interesting story
Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) is a world famous artist from Vienna and wrote history again in 2007 when his famous portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer was sold for appr. 135 million USD in New York City which made it at that time the most expensive painting in the world.

LAKS has created watches for a long time. On its way to a world wide branding for art and technological watches (like smart transaction watch) we followed an inspiration. An inspiration that changed our LAKS watch collection completely as we decided to start with a painting – The Kiss – from Gustav Klimt in 1989.

What does it mean do start with a painting?
We thought it was time to get something ’new’ for the watch face. Something we were emotionally connected. Therefore, we put the famous painting – The Kiss – of Gustav Klimt directly on a LAKS watch face. That was the beginning of a new collection and as a valuation of his art as well as his inspiration for many people we created a website called klimt.com. A website with interesting information about the artist and our LAKS Klimt watch collection.
